The brief was simple, "Make a reception desk that looks like a pill".  After extensive research, we felt the best way to achieve this was fibre glass, partly due to the forming of the curved shape and partly because the gel coating can be buffed to a glossy plastic looking finish.  The design accounts for a cutout on the rear to accommodate the reception desktop, and the two halves were designed in a way that the same mould could be utilised for both mirrored sides, considering access points and fittings for bolting points for joining and the fixing of the colour matching laminate desktop.
