A custom kitchen island, to stand apart from the rest of the kitchen and become a centre piece for the clients open plan living room / kitchen area.  The brief require the island to be mobile so they could adjust the layout for various functions or parties, allowing for more open floor space or a different arrangement for preparing food, it led to some interesting challenges for its structure and weight.

 

The Quartz countertop matches the existing fitted countertop, while the walnut unit gives warmth, complementing other walnut elements in the open plan area, and allowing for some detailed craftsmanship on the joints, handles and spice rack at the end of the unit.
