Designed as part of a soft furnishing competition, the Lofa Sofa uses research taken of ‘natural’ seating postures to determine a comfortable seating arrangement. The light grey middle section comes out to create a foot rest, but also a void; used to create two seats; a love seat and a single seat. It also aids social interaction as it allows people to turn their feet into the void to have more direct conversation. It is also possible to sit on the back of the backrest allowing a playful interaction. The seat depth is deep to allow for slouching, or to allow the user to put their feet up, while the back cushion can be used to bring the seat back to a normal depth to fit more upright.
